Previously, there was a discussion about the possibility of checking the discounted Krakow Tram card on both the kiosk machine and mobile. As of today (20 June 2025), after checking with the MPK office, it has been confirmed that we can only recharge or obtain information about our card using one method at a time. The two methods are not synchronized. If you choose the mobile-based card, you cannot check it at the kiosk machine, and if you choose the kiosk machine, you cannot check it via mobile.

This "Karta Krakowska" App I recharge every month for 90 PLN and in Trams/Bus I don’t have to buy ticket… The plastic card did NOT sync with this app. It was needed to put money into the plastic card through machine, which would separately work… So either use the Karta Krakowska app or the card.

When an individual wishes to cancel the tram card purchased with the Krakow Card discount, they may do so at any time, and the refunded amount will be based on a pro-rated calculation.

How to get sync mobile app and physical card – Krakow TRAM card

Karta Krakowska

I use a physical card. I could recharge it using the app “Karta Krakowska”

Now regarding the sync. After the conversion to the physical card, the first month was fine. But from the second month onwards, there was no sync. When the Inspector came for inspection, I would show the Karta Krakowska app that I've recharged, along with the physical card. However, this did not serve the purpose of the physical card. Then I went to KKM office and they helped me sync the recharge with the physical card.

In the event of LOST this TRAM Monthy card:

Cost: 8pln

You can pay in Points of Sale of Public Transport Ticket - where you will need to go with that form.

They also mentioned taking photos with you.

When recharging the monthly tram card in the machine, you must select a Full Fare. Do not select Reduced at any time.

Example: Every month, you select Full Fare and pay 90 PLN. But this time, it shows 158 PLN. If you select Reduced, then it shows 90 PLN. This means that you need to submit your UPO or PIT 37 documents. Do not select Reduced at any time. If you select and recharge the card, when the ticket collector comes, they will find out the mistake and give you a ticket for 200 PLN or more.

Every bus and tram stop has this “Ticket machine” that takes tickets using cash or a card.

How to take a ticket:

What is the difference between this normal and reduced?

Reduced: students and Senior citizens

The rest of the people must take a Normal ticket.

Experience: I was fined 143 PLN by mistake when I took the reduced ticket instead of Normal.

Query: What are the documents required for Monthly TRAM/Bus Card?

Answer: For without discounted card 159 zl, Passport is enough. No PESEL and other documents required.

Query: I want to take a TRAM monthly card for my parents. With Passport and Visa will they get it?

Answer: Yes, a 159 PLN monthly card with only a Passport.

Query: Will my tram monthly physical card expire if I don't recharge it? Do I need to purchase a new one? Or can I recharge after a few months?

Answer: We can recharge as per our needs. The Physical card has a year of validity. In between, it won’t expire, so we can recharge the card as we wish.

Query:After I submitted PIT-37 with UPO Number, I got a discounted TRAM/BUS monthly card in Krakow. Do I need to renew this discounted card every year?

Answer: We must renew our tram/bus cards with PIT-37 and UPO numbers yearly. Otherwise, we won’t get the 50% discount.

Query: How can I find out when and where I have to submit PIT-37 with my UPO Number?

Answer: When you try to recharge your card, instead of 90 PLN, if it asks you to pay 159 PLN, that means your card discount time has expired. So you have to go to the MPK service point and submit the PIT-37 with the UPO Number to get 90 PLN.

Query: The monthly student ticket fee is 89.50. Is this correct?

Answer: For foreign students under 18 years old, there are two types of monthly TRAM and Bus passes:

a)      Only with Student ID Card: 89.50 PLN - Up to 26 Years of age.

b)     With Student ID Card and Parent's PIT-37 and UPO: 40 PLN - Up to 18 Years of age.

Sometimes only PIT-37 with UPO number will be asked at the counter. Sometimes PIT-37 with UPO documents are requested. So it’s better to bring both.
